i was googling things related to samholmesdesign while i was purchasing my domain name and i stumbled upon a blog entry featuring me! thedesignblog.org featured my under-the-seat bike bag with a built in rain cover back in december. i like how they rewrote my description to make it sound better.

we’ve started to create our own branding in haig’s professional practice class. these are some of my logo ideas.

haig and mike laut were telling us that we should register our own domain name so i went ahead and got SamHolmesDesign.com.

i did this hanging led light fixture in sean hilliard’s studio.

for our solidworks class we had to model a marker. i used calipers to get all the dimensions and i even cut an old ad marker in half so i could get the insides right. i recreated the label in illustrator using an unrolled ad marker label as a reference.

we had several choices for this project but i chose to do an led lighting fixture for restaurants, bars and cafes. my concept is to use clear profiles that are illuminated from their center and separated by metal spacers. i made some sketch models with the laser cutter this week.
