walking with christopher walken

we had several choices for this project but i chose to do an led lighting fixture for restaurants, bars and cafes. my concept is to use clear profiles that are illuminated from their center and separated by metal spacers. i made some sketch models with the laser cutter this week.

i found out that i had fall break for this week way to late and forgot to get off of work. i would have done something awesome if i had known earlier. i went home on wednesday but i had to go back the next day for work. then jen came over on the weekend and brought her dog. we got a new project on monday so i went to some stores and did some research. over fall break i got a real hair cut that was like my first one in years. i went to great clips and had some black lady cut it who did a really great job.

my next project is to design either a lamp, folding camping seating, or prosthetic hook so i went to the lamp store and rei to check out the goods. then some guy with a missing arm came in to studio and let us try his hooks. that’s lukas using the demo arm.

i was trying to go to the skatepark on my scooter today when all the sudden it just cut out on and i got stranded on the side of capital. i called my roommate will and he came and picked me up and i left my scooter in the parking lot of a sketchy adult video store near where i broke down. while i was waiting for will i sk8ed with some mexican @ the muffler shop next door. after will took me home i got my dad to bring the truck and we loaded the scooter up in the bed. it wasn’t as hard i as i thought it might be. then we brought it back to my parents house and unloaded it. unloading was a little harder but we got it off safely. despite my ignorance of anything engine related i was determined to fix it myself so i went ahead and started taking off the bodywork so i could get to the engine. after i got the seat off the problem was pretty obvious. a vacuum line had wiggled its way apart so i reconnected the line, put the seat back on and was up and running. after the scoot was fixed i hauled my drum set back to my apartment in my dads truck so me and brendon could jam.

paul came back from app for his birthday so i went home to visit him. then i brought the truck back instead of the scooter because it was late and i wanted to bring a few things back to my house. having the truck and not my scooter sucked because i don’t have a parking pass so i have to take the bus or ride with my roommates all the time. i was waiting for the bus for 15 minutes and then when it finally came the driver just got off and took a 10 minute break. it took me 35 minutes to get from school to home! then another time i was riding the bus and the bus driver missed a stop and he had to drive all the way back. then a few minutes later the same bus driver drove into a construction area and had to make a three point turn but he knocked over a stop sign! i don’t think they know what they’re doing. on saturday i went to a cool party @ ashe house that put our parties to shame. they even had a signed band called lake inferior. they were alright but they took forever to set up. this weekend i went to marsh creek skatepark skate park to check it out and because it was free. i hadn’t been to a skatepark in probably 5 years and i suck now. the whole thing was concrete and i was scared to fall. plus i was on paul’s skateboard and the trucks were way too loose for me. at least it wasn’t very crowded. i was glad it was free because i only stayed for about 20 minutes. i think i’l go back if i can get brendon to come and maybe i’ll bring some pads.

i caught the swine flu after i got back from app. i’m not sure where i got it from. i had a pretty bad fever monday night so tuesday morning i went to student health @ state and got some tamiflu. it wasn’t a very bad flu and it only really lasted about three or four days. i guess maybe the tamiflu helped. by thursday my fever was all gone so i went back to class friday with just a cough & soar throat.

i drove up to appalachian state to see my brother for the labor day weekend. i took our mountain bikes in the truck. there was a lot of traffic on the way up. we went mountain biking @ sugar mountain. the trails were really crazy intense! i also brought my accordion and we jammed. then we went to a couple parties and played some tennis. paul needs to send me the pictures. i was kind bummed out because i think i left my favorite jacket @ one of the parties and i went back twice looking for it but i couldn’t find it. i’m always loosing my jackets. i think i should start stitching them to my body.
